Yeah, you read that right...

I was on the way home today, and I came around a curve and there was a H-U-G-E white llama smack dab in the center of my lane. I jammed the brakes and narrowly avoided hitting him.

Obviously, he is a pet, because he didn't run from the car, nor from me when I got out to shoo him out of the road. He non-chalantly mosied up the nearby driveway. I followed him to the top, figuring that was his home, but the ultra neat as a pin house with no barn or shed made me think he was just exploring that driveway, not used to walking around there.

I was less than a half mile from my house, so I continued on down the road in either direction looking for a house with some sort of barn/shed and fence set up, but didn't see any. I just went home and called the town cops to see if they want to investigate and find the owner. After all, there is a VERY busy highway only 100 yards from where I was, and I'd hate to see a big truck splat him.

What a weird insurance claim that would have been!!

Wow. Reminds me of two things.

1. Back in the 80's and somewhere on the back roads to either Perris California; or maybe it was on the way to Moreno Valley California; I came across a house that had elephants roaming around. Kinda shocked me. Rumor had it that it was an exotic animal shelter that rescued animals being abused by circuses. Don't know if that's true or not.

2. About 3 miles from my house is a home that has ostriches. It's very weird to see an ostrich in the snow. But they seem to do well in the winters. I think it's an ostrich ranch raising them for the meat. Confused
