Me and my buddy are making a 70's style collage, He used the pen tool to cut a picture of Jimmy Hendrix out and layeer it via copy to transfer it over onto another layer which is the background layer. The picture he has of Jimmy Hendrix is a colored picture and he wants to make it black and white. We cant figure this one out for the life of us. Any information is very much well appreciated. Thanks.

Go to Image/adjustments/desaturate. That should do it.

oor.. in the drop down menu that says "Image" then "Adjustments" then chose "Black & White", or press Alt+Shift+Ctrl+B. you get to control how black and white it is.

Look at the 'Tutorials' above in the header, just click it and it'll
show you exactly how to do it...

Along with a lot more stuff to get you going on your collage.
