DETROIT - Soupy Sales, the rubber-faced comedian whose anything-for-a-chuckle career was built on 20,000 pies to the face and 5,000 live TV appearances across a half-century of laughs, died Thursday. He was 83.

I remember Soupy. I have to admit, I thought he passed a LONG time ago. He must have been a VERY senior dude. I remember him from all those "variety" shows during the 70's. And I thought he had the wackiest name too. RIP Soupy.

Seriously though it's sad that he was only 38. That's only a year younger than me. Shocked. Recently he had a "reality" show with the other 80's Cory Whatshisface (the one that was also in The Lost Boys).

Crying or Very sad I hadn't seen this. I was just watching a documentary on the history of Metal the other day, and he was in it prominently... Given credit for the heavy metal hands....
