I went to the photobucket account and looked at a few "images to be touchedup" pics.... These are kinda on the small side/low res. Lots of pixelation and artifacts going on. Got any higher res versions?

I like the blurry borders. Makes it look like she is resting in a nest.

For those of you wanting to do touchups like this, there is a HUGE diffrence in touching up for magasines vs newspapers. Smile

I liked them? Confused

I guess I was trying to achieve a "bokeh" effect. Did that one in about 5 minutes so I didn't take the time to look at any tuts on the effect.

I take it you don't like Fabio? Laughing

Speaking of.... DO ONE TO SHOW US WHAT YOU'D DO! Razz Wink

bokeh (the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light) is something completely different

I guess I was going for a definition like this:
Quote:
Bokeh - (derived from Japanese word "boke", meaning 'blur') - In photography, refers to the creative use of lens blur as a composition technique. The aim of bokeh is to deliberately blur the background or foreground (or both) in order to draw the viewer's attention to a particular area of the photo. One method of achieving Bokeh involves using a lens with a wide aperture setting, which in turn produces a narrow depth-of-field. It should be noted that some lenses tend to be more suited than others for achieving such an effect. Central to achieving effective bokeh is an understanding of the concept of depth-of-field (dof).
[bokeh example]

Or this one:
Quote:
Bokeh: This is a Japanese word that is used by photographers to describe how the out of focus sections of an image look - ie, a nice smoothe non distracting blur, or a rough, disjointed blur. While bokeh changes from lens to lens, it is also a matter of personal opinion - what may look like bad bokeh to someone in a photo, may look pleasant to another person.

chris... that´s used for depth of field... doesn´t work when the field you´re bluring is the same you want to draw the attention to...
