As a cat owner I know all about cats that won't come home (lurking in the bushes at the front door no doubt - they can't leave you out of your sight, after all, you are their slave, till death) - I waited 4 days one time, for a cat to come back, it turned out to have lived in the CEILING(!!!) of a neighbours house. And that house was being renovated.
Just lucky that this neighbour heard the cat stumble around when he went back to work, and set it free....

Shocked

Another time one of my cats just moved into a truck that was delivering parcels to next door. I saw him do it, so I could warn the driver to chace the cat off...

So, that is the order of thinking when one of my cats does not come home: Who keeps their frontdoor open all day long.... were there delivery vans in the street today.... perhaps they went around the block to get into the back yard... No, I did not see a dead cat lying in the street when I went shopping.... So, they will come back when they are hungry.
