There is an Apple RELIGION? Shocked
I knew they had a following, but do they have preachers and churches? Laughing

LOL Yes we do. The main cathedral is in New York, with smaller churches in every major city, conveniently located of course. They even take donation$.

Been with the Mac since 1984. Still have my original 128k safely tucked away. Very Happy

A Mac is fast indeed, but I build myself a computer last month with a Core i5 Sandy bridge, 8gb of 1600 DDR3 ram and 120 GB SSD (Solid State Drive).
I can assure you, it's fast Smile

Some examples of booting times:
PS CS5 64bit: 1.25 seconds.
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit: 12 seconds.

The booting times is not what interests me too much, it's the responsetime with video-editing, rendering, copying of large files, etc.
A few years ago MAC would be the better choice overall, but nowadays I don't see much difference anymore for a homeuser if you have a self customised desktop.
Note: I'm talking about self build systems with the right components, not about manufactured computers from brands like Dell, HP, Acer, and so on.

When it comes to design and visual, mac is still the best choice. It's elegance hasn't been beaten by any all-in-one desktop.
Although, I like my PC just fine the way it is now Smile

I also built my own desktop computer. And have not seen any mac that can beat it yet. Even if you add tripple of the money into the mac Smile

But the illusion of the mac is strong, and people buy it. So as long people are happy with what they use; All is well.

Very Happy

Very SWEET rig kinetic_be!! It would smoke my Mac G5 hands down. Crying or Very sad

This is a old Mac G4 Dual 1.42 MDD I built years ago. I overclocked to around 1.8 and added SATA drives instead of the IDEs.
Did a few other things to get it going as fast as I could but can't find parts as easy for Macs.
Sprayed the displays to match too. Thought it turned out pretty sexy looking.

Cool

Hope I posted this link right...... Confused If it worked, view it as a slideshow.

Looking cool TJ Smile
I like the orange lights better than mine.

Basicly you can speed up any older computer just by replacing the harddrives by solid state drives.
They are still expensive (even at my hardware suppliers), but it's worth it.
As far I've seen (especially with older laptops) it increases speed by 30 to 50%.

Unfortunally it never really helped me increasing any speed chopping Rolling Eyes

I've only heard about this, erectile compensation. It's a syndrome where the smaller it is, the bigger, and faster the toys the guy will have. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

So PEE WEE Pakimo. So no wonder you don't like animation. It's hard enough to keep in in hand when it's stationary. Laughing Laughing Laughing
