It's very hard to teach digital painting since it's wildly varies on your inner technique, but here is a good site that has some technical tips:
http://www.makeshiftmiracle.com/Tutorials.html
The best way to practice is to observe your environment. Look at shadows and highlights and colors everywhere you look. Only after becoming really familiar with light, pick up the pen and practice painting a lot.

Very nice stuff here. Cynn, I love the self-portrait. I think it needs more cleavage though. It's very hard for me to believe this stuff was painted in Photoshop. I guess because I couldn't do it.

I recently got a tablet so I'm still a n00b-artist Smile

this is like the best I've done.. not as good as CrabbyPatty.... Wink

EDIT**

Cynn: That game doesn't happen to be Kingdom of Loathing? Razz

I was into that too a while ago. Damned funny... well I drew stuff too. Like this:

Yep, that's Kindgom of Loathing, all right. You're looking at the newest Ring of Flame moderator.

I love your work, Dazork! It's wonderful. Smile

Mommy, thank you. And, well, it is a self-portrait, after all. Wink

Cool stuff!

I don't make time to do any "personal" art like I should....but I did this for my wife's birthday last year.

22k Gold leaf, Silver leaf, Variegated Gold Leaf, and paint, reverse on glass.
Obviously a Mucha design.

and some work pics:

WoW Some Amazing Work!!!!

I really do admire anybody who can paint ( Cynn and EJH ), anything I ever painted looked like a little kid did it to me.

I always wanted to try airbrushing Zingaro, but I never did for some reason. Your stuff looks great too!

And CrabbyPatty, Holy Crap! I remember checking out your site when you first signed up in PSC. Your a Master!!!!

Very Cool Stuff Terminator, j-elzic and daZork !!!

And Supakoma, very cool animations, yes I even like the "American" one.

Here's some stuff I did a while back in Adobe Illustrator...

Here ya go MommysBoy...Cynn with a bigger cleavage, ha! (Just Playing Cynn Very Happy )

This one is copy of an Iron Maiden CD, used as a reference only. Was drawn all in Illustrator 6 except for the dissolve brush on the straight jacket. This was cropped down from it's original 24" x 25" size.

Chrispis, that is wonderful. Your work is just excellent, which is not a bit surprising. Smile

I draw with pencils some. I don't claim to be an artist but at least you can tell it's human. This one's for real Cynn.

Chrispis: Cool afroman!

screwloose: Really nice stuff! Especially the red cartoon-guy. And the Ironmaiden cd is great. If it had been no-ref you would be pro.

I wish I could use Illustrator... Sad

Photography has become a passion of mine, rekindled over the past year. This is one of my favorite images. Several people requested and received copies of this for Christmas, and a few coworkers are wearing T-shirts with this ironed on.

I've done knitting/crocheting/crafting for years, since I was a pre-teen. A few of my recent works are:

This needlepoint (counted cross-stitch) piece I made for my mom

This crocheted baby blanket with interlocking colored rings forming the middle of each panel for a friend

A quilted wall hanging (you can't tell by this photo, but the entire border is hand quilted with a repeating 4-heart design)
