I've posted this before but, Check out these tips from one of the best "old" members on the site, Occecid:

http://www.geekologist.com/10Tips.htm

Also, I would add ...Never be afraid to try something new just because you're afraid you won't get votes. The best way to learn is by trying something you haven't done before.

A wise man once told me, all you really need to do is incorporate the following into your post, and you'll clean up:

-a squirrel
-pirate reference
-the PSC logo

*Extra points if you include a picture of Reinman wearing nothing but a strategically-placed accordian.

Razz

Oh come on, I'm joking! (it's true though)

or, you create a picture with all socks-avatars, or a tall building with the avatars looking from the balconys, or a wall with the members-names on the bricks ... anyone who you mention in your entry and not giving you a vote would feel like an as*ho*e Laughing

Oh that is such a great resource! Where the hell did Occecid go? No entries for 6 months? Pity he's a master/guru/wizard.

Like everyone else has pretty much said,
just have fun here Very Happy
don't take it so seriously Sad
great work gets votes Exclamation
blah
blah
blah
Now on to my thesis/observations of recent trends Shocked

Having "the advantage" helps if
you have a good 'chop on the 1st page and
it gets votes early on then
it gets viewed more and
that helps a good pic get more votes.

I've noticed for a while now that the pic that leads in the day often has 2 to 5 times as many views as the 2nd highest vote getter. People obviously click on a winner and then about 1/4 of those clickers vote for that leading pic.

I miss the old days when all of the days pics appeared on one long, took forever to load page and you got 2nd place with 15 votes. Very Happy

Offer free beer for anyone who votes for you. I suggest one bottle per vote. Warsteiner is good.
