Marco I think the poll should have had another slot which says do both. I think that:

1.A reminder should be sent when the H2H is about to start and
2.if participants are willing, have them chop to slot into no shows. If of course that can be arranged.

I've kind of always thought we should do this. The potential problem is that a 16 seed no shows and some amazing 2 or 3 seed person gets put in against a 1 seed in round 1 unexpectedly and that's unbalances things, however, we could take the next 15 to sign up, ignore the order they signed up and replace anyone that is a no show with the person who's pscore would put them in closest seed spot to the person who no showed. It may cause a tiny bit of a delay the morning that voting starts to plug in the holes, but I think this is fair way to make sure the brackets stay balanced and the optimal amount of people get to participate.
This is good.

I know it's probably not too realistic. But what if there were a 2nd (smaller contest) for those that didn't make the cut who want to play? Kind of like the NCAA basketball has the ncaa tourney and the NIT for those that didn't make it.
Just a thought, hate to see anyone excluded, especially those that are very active, participating members on a regular basis.

Option 1 is not an email to say the starting date, they should be sent out anyways, it was an email to older members who may have signed up to the H2H after a massive break, to make sure they turn up.

Personally, Option 2 for me is definitely the way to go

funny thing is, I had a disclaimer about "not chopping, voting or h2h-ing so take this with a grain of salt" all written out but I erased it Smile

sorry to disappoint you all but i don't think there's time (nor do i have the time) to implement such changes in the code, maybe in the next h2h.

There usually is a side tourney. Someone sets it up an hosts it on their own. Can't remember exactly who did it last time. dbbowling perhaps?

I'm personally all in favor of having everyone that signed-up for the H2H doing a chop. Then the delay so that the no-shows could be replaced with an alternate with the closest PSCore rating. Even if it torques the brackets a little bit I think that's better than no-shows and a bunch of people not being able to play along.

I don't think this would require a coding change either. I think btvs just has to replace the member IDs in the set brackets?

Proc will be contacting participants as a confirmation that they can participate. This will clear out some spaces so other participants may enter. Very Happy

I predict 15 no-shows in round 1.
Evil or Very Mad

Only 15? Isn't that a bit light?

I'm lazy, and Marco is long winded so i didn't read but a sentence or so.
I hope I got the gist.
Ok so if I have it right, then why not post the
image for the day each contest starts as the same image as the regular daily contest?
Highest voted's get an invite to fill the void.
Who could say no?
