No, if you check, the size limitations were increased last year, and 90x90 was a safe size, you could have gone larger.

while in the save as web/mobile i didnt have the chain broken in the lower right hand corner. thanks all for your help....

so they never got any bigger, just longer more anoying .gifs, we can all see there is room provided for a 90 x 90 avatar, maybe a 100 x 100
