Really sorry about this. Hope you can recover your stuff.

That's a bummer Oscar. Confused

Really look into Squid's suggestion though. It'd be worth the money if you got back your music and photos. The movies you can always recover (unless they're home movies?).

just as a precaution, i advise keeping the most important things backed in at least 2 places.

I dont trust cd and dvd for long term permanent storage, because they can set in their little case and become unreadable after a while.

HD's if you have an external only plug it in when transferring files on or off..

flash drives, great for backups too.. my backups go like this.

most important files (back every week or 2)
pictures, home movies, memories.. put them on an external HD, and dvd/cd, and if you have an extra one, a flash drive. I also make a zip or rar of files so they are actually on 2 locations at once. i back both sets of files.

The accidental deletion i mentioned in my earlier post, was less than a week after they were taken, but i used hdrp and got them back.

Nothing like having a tame 'Transformer' as your back-up is there?

Ok so after tracking all the leads I had about back up data I was able to recover about half my music and about 50 movies... the pictures were a total lost since I only recover the stuff I had on flickr Crying or Very sad

I took the drive today to frys to see if I could get anything from it and the guys there were really nice, but there was nothing they could do since everything was overwritten by the new OS

... I did get 2 external drives and a flash thumb drive to keep all my pictures there.

I called some of the family and told them about what happen and they are all looking to see if they had any pics on their memory cards.

So sorry to hear about your loss Oscar. I had that happen to me once as well. It seems as though we then spend the next week if not month trying to recapture what we lost. The pain and guilt will eventually subside after you make enough progress, trust me.

This kind of thing happens to us all at some point, so don't go beating yourself up over it.
Wink

now I go totally insane about keeping my pics.. i wont even delete them off y camera until I have them backed in 2 places most of the time.
