Hey there fellow graphics designers!

I'm Adi, an event manager at Pragyan 2010. Pragyan is the international techno-management fest of NIT Trichy, one of the premier engineering institutes of India. And this year, we're introducing an event that adds the creative brush to our tech fest.

Enter Liminality, Pragyan’s own digital art competition, filling the void between the dual realms of the real and the virtual. Our shout out to all aspiring and established graphic designers out there, Liminality is a test of speed, dexterity and awesomeness.

If you haven't guessed yet, Liminality is a design contest for Photoshop lovers! And we're opening it to participants from outside India.

This part of the contest, dubbed Web Subs, will have the participants contesting against members of prominent design forums for the prize (which, although on the smaller side at the moment, stands to increase with participation).

The topics, event format and related details have been put up. The deadline, as of now, stands at the 5th of February.

As for why you should be a part of this, here is what we offer: A prize of 50$ (which, as mentioned, has a good chance of increasing) for the best entries on the topics we provide. The payment will probably be made via Paypal.

For details, check out http://pragyan.org/10/home/ and more specifically, http://pragyan.org/10/home/events/chillpill/liminality/

For admins reading this, I did go through your general rules post and I hope no line has been crossed. Do contact us if we have breached any limits.

Contact: liminality [at] pragyan [dot] org

Yours truly,

Adi ^^

Hey there fellow India wannabe graphics designers!

I'm Eve. I studied graphic design for many years and earned a degree...something many of your compadres haven't bothered with learning.

My answer to this is to hold your competition within your own country since they've taken so many US and other nation's jobs away from us.

Yes, because you haven't been schooled in design........duh!

This might be true, but it's not a nice thing to say.

I apologize in behalf of Eve.

Neutral

22 Thank you

If companies don't take advantage of cheaper labor resources they become less competitive, they disappear and the job disappear with them. So, either way, by outsourcing or the closure of a company people still will lose their jobs.
Sorry.

@Eve - Yeah, it's a fact that not too many people earn specialized degrees in Designing in India but I don't see how that affects this competition opening itself beyond borders. Those were acrid comments.

@Oscar - It's alright. Completely didn't see that coming.

The competition remains open to anyone who wishes to participate.
