My guess is Raptor is either Chopper or Al. But the part of cleaning the computer and finding old PSC files and aliases really points me to Al. 
In the end I've never given much of a crap about aliases. But then again they've never directly affected me or my membership.
I like Proc's high school analogy. Plus I think everyone has their own degree of ADHD on this site. Once they see another "shiney" they move on.

The answer to your question, st1n3r, is those who remember the old days.
The problem with the base question is there is no one, simple answer. There are probably as many reasons why people move on as there are people moving on. Everyone's life has their own set of pressures interacting upon them and some will leave for this set of reasons, some for that. I moved on for a couple of years, but came back because I still love the place.
It would be great to have a lot of these old-timers back, I agree. But its real life that is the culprit here. That always interferes.
