There may be fewer no-shows with a $5 buy-in. Plus winners' pot would be waaaaay sweeter!

That's what I've been trying to say. Plus I think $5 is more of an incentive than $1.

If 128 people enter that's a $640 pot for splitting with the winners. Make it the final 4 and you automatically get $40. This leaves $400 from there 1st place gets $250 and second gets $150. So, along with the advantage and banner/trophy prizes, #1 ends up with $290, #2 ends up with $190, and #'s 3 & 4 get $40. That's incentive in my book.

Oh and if Proc ponies up $160 (only $10 more than he's currently doing) then the pot would be an even $800.

$400 split among the final four ($100 each)
$300 for 1st place
$100 for 2nd place

First ends up getting $400, Second gets $200 and 3rd/4th get $100.

Or it could start at elite 8 (small amount like $25?) and scale from there.

(and I still think a $5 entry fee is not too much to ask to ensure people are going to submit something when they enter)

For what it's worth: I've not missed an entry date, nor have I misread rules or asked for extensions or exceptions in any chop contest, daily or special.

Add a fee and I'm afraid I'd have to pass on future contests of this sort.

I do love the modified sign-up rules, though.

You need to throw a false-positive in there, though: "You're skimming this, aren't you?" {Yes, I'm reading everything} {No, I'm not.}

Cool

I look at it as basically a wager $5 that you could at least pull down a $100 prize and possibly a $400 windfall? After all it's a tournament not a sweepstakes or simple contest. I've seen many tournaments where you HAD to put up an entry fee to get in.

What's all this noise about money and entry fees? Some of us are purist who wouldn't dare cheapen h2h like that. Others chop for the pure love of chopping.

Damn, That's the power company. They want cash...

I think entry fees would be appropriate as long as they were reasonable. My major concern is cheating. Picture of the day honors alone have driven people to conspiracy and huge tangled webs of deceit. Imagine what serious scratch will bring.

I have a problem with an entry fee... I know it makes sense so that no shows stop happening but can everyone really afford to be spending money on something that should be a hobby & fun?

I mean, sure, great idea guys but personally I think if I had to pay then I'd be unable - not to be confused with unwilling - to take part. I guess what I'm saying is I think we'd lose a lot of people, scare off noobs to H2H & also be removing part of the fun of it all.

The thing I think could work is if advantage users got to enter as usual & non advantage users paid a small entry fee? Lets face it, you don't tend to buy advantage if you don't intend to chop.

If the source is given 10 days before the H2H starts, and you get 7 days to send it in, there is still 3 days left to fix the no-shows and everything before the tournament starts.
In those days, mods could have plenty of time to bring in eventualy other contestors who have 2 or 3 days left to fill in the empty spots if wanted or to repair those who are facing a no-show.
Just a thought, if is hasn't been mentioned before.
