hello boys and girls, as some of you may know i work for local photographers retouching all their images (family portraits, makeovers etc) and I am now taking on more than is humanly possible and I'm looking for an assistant retoucher to take on some of the workload, it may not be constant work but it is something.

As you can appreciate privacy is a big deal and once you have completed the work, the originals must be destroyed.

OK you want to know how much I'm going to pay you? Well I'm open for negotiation here boys and girls (per image, per batch, per hour)

So Im asking anyone interested to post a few before and after images showing what you can do. Remember this is not manipulation just retouching, clean up etc.

Thanks friends.
Smile

Hey Danny,

It might help your cause if YOU post a "damaged" or "needy" photo here and see what people do with it. That way you get a consistent source for the TESTING.

(Of course you'll need to post an image that is NOT TOP SECRET or else you'll be out of what seems like a very lucrative job! Wink )

Shocked

Okay - I can see my wisdom is not appreciated here - I shall go away now.

agree. and better they email you the result instead of posting it here. This way you can make the difference and choose your slave Smile Try to choose one that is not top secret and share it, then wait for the outcome.

yep, i think too that you should post a couple tasks to do with a photo then see the results you get, i'd give it a shot, since work is very slow here

I'm interested, but am wondering how big the file sizes and which format you'll be using. In other words, is it going to be a challenge getting these images from point A to point B and back to point A over the internet? How many photos need touched up?

Lots of free sites that let you send 20~50+ meg files now. E-transfer of visual images is not gonna be a concern. Wink

i (Actually, just checking... I think a number of them allow 100+meg files - just hit UPLOAD and go have a coffee! Smile )

ii (Actually, Yahoo Mail has a sidecar "app" called Dropio, and it will allow up to 100meg files to be attached and sent wherever.)

I always work with the raw (tiff) files to prevent pixel degradation, then once its done I export to Jpeg for sending off to lab.

The way it will work is if I get a workload and 10 more on top I'll probably divide it between the two us (whoever you are lol) and split my earnings 50/50 with you.

I'll post a before image for you all to play with later (non ©).

Got a hefty pile of web sites and promo work to crack on with for now.

Bit of advice for anyone trying to break out of hobby into career with this kind of work, heres what I did.

Google photographers in your area, email them a sample of your work along with very basic- to the point resume/C.V. Keep at it and you WILL find work. I was already designing sites and logos etc and I wanted to broaden my horizons a bit so thats what I did.

Good luck to all.
I will get back to you all soon, bear with me.
Thanks friends.
Very Happy Very Happy

(Almost forgot to ask; Any of you have Lightroom experience?

What I would do is build my own file sharing site and use it for JUST that purpose. Smile

i suppose you can hire me... I will work for $200/hr...... just kidding, 300.

seriously though you should post an example source that we can all work on... make it a contest i would do it for very cheap if I meet your quality standards. Also, I take my break every 3-4 minutes.
