it is SO crazy to compare a $700 piece of software to a $0 piece of software with an eye on seeing if they are comparable.



I'll save everyone a LOT of reading:

GIMP: does an amazing amount of cool things but not as much and not as easy as

PHOTOSHOP: top of the heap (in price and amazing ability to do just about ANYTHING to an image).

I had a friend years back that swore by Gimp. He had installed a ton of filters/brushes and there wasn't much that most people could make with PS that he couldn't re-create with Gimp with ease..... it did however take longer for him to do certain things that with PS is more of a click or simple adjustment.

It really comes down to proficiency though. I'm average or below average with PS compared to most people here, if someone knew Gimp well...they could out chop me all day long
