Links in the authors notes directing me to a more awesome version of your entry.
I don't care, and I don't want to see it.

In fact, it's become an automatic no vote for me.

To me its going around the rules of this game.
Rules state it has to be this big and can only be this many KB's
If you can't create your entry within those parameters, I don't care what you did.

Authors notes are for how you created an entry, or for showing outside sources used.
or in some cases, mood music...
It's not for linking to a better entry with 1G of data that wasn't allowed to submit.
This goes for Static images as much as for Gifs.
Though you don't see as many links to a better static image like you do for look at this better gif that I couldn't make here.

Post that bigger, cooler entry in Deviant Art or on your FB page if you want.

I'm just getting tired of it. It is becoming the norm around here.
It's insulting to those who do play by the rules.
Don't find loopholes in the system.
Be thankful they even allow gifs here. People automatically get wow'd because you made it move.
Don't try to sway it even more by linking a perfect version that would never fly here.
I've seen some kick ass gifs that are made with what PSC gives you.
Don't be lazy. Figure it out. OR ask for help.

Steps down from soap box, hands it back to lurker.

I don't mind Gifs.
They are allowed here.

In fact I enjoy making them myself.

I just don't like seeing offsite links to 'better' versions.

I hear ya Sean, very well put, and I agree totally.

I however was guilty of this once and once only with my 1000th entry, as I was asked for a bigger size from several people at the time to see the details, the link no longer exists though.

I've got chops with links to a bigger image, but it was during the period when we got big sources, but couldn't click on the pic to see the big chops(lots of people were doing it at the time and I was too weak to go against the flow, guvnor, honest! Wink) Anyway, as we know, that all got sorted out and everything was good with the universe.

I don't mind to see link to a bigger/better image. Never use it before but will always check it out. I don't see any strict rule about that. Everyone is bitching about small size for upload anyhow. I am not hanging at facebook or deviant art. If it's such a problem and inflicts precious votes so much then link can be added after contest or in forum topic later, if someone have need to expose it to public opinion.

Ok guys. Im a sinner. Shocked

I did post a big GIF link to my Ancient turtle out for a stroll (contest ends tomorrow. I have removed it.
I agree to some of this in this tread. I do.

But remember. It takes time to make these images/GIF. In my case, I used a pretty long time to make, first the posted version, then the BIG version with more effects. Im a beginner with GIFs and I scream out loud Shocked Twisted Evil when I want to save the god damn GIFs and find out that the GIF is too BIG.

Its funny making these GIFs if you got a pretty good idea for the GIF.

I will anyway, in the future, try to make the GIFs in the right size and not that bullshit BIG size GIF.
(How many times have I written GIF now......??? Shocked Shocked Shocked Razz

Have a nice giffy evening. With or without a gif. Very Happy Very Happy Laughing Laughing
