Look in the archives for issue April 2005. It has a nice tutorial that incorporates shadows along with Spotlight Effects. It was easy to follow.

THANKS CAM!

MASON!
All you ever dreamed of is right here Bro!!!
I don't use NOTHING but basic brushes.
they just aint my thing BUT I know
I left a buncha links to brushes SOMEWHERE on this thread.
When I DID experiment with brushes--
I used to google for them --
and I was specific about it--like
"Photoshop brush brushes" PLUS--- skin disorder-
cracks-textures-shapes-letters--body parts--
things--planes-rubber duckys-- like that.
Good Luck. Smile
kazaa photoshop brushes and you can download hundreds in a few minutes--
just transfer them all to a new file in the "brushes"
file in programs-adobe-photoblahblah and then
APPEND them in photoshop.

Found another good reference for colorizing BW pics. It was written for Fireworks but should translate to PS fairly easily.

I posted this in the colorize thread but I thought it should go here too.

Hey all!

Lookie what I found today:

It's a tutorial on how to change hair color!

And what about one to balance skin tones? Okay so it's not a "colorizing" example but it helps with skin!

And even though it's not totally related to this thread I thought it was still a good find so here's a tutorial for creating beard stubble. Also how about adding tattoos to that skin? Here's another tattoo tut.

Quite a lot of good tutorials on that site. Please forgive if they've been linked elsewhere in PSC.

If you really want to understand PS, you'll have to try the Total training DVD's on CS2. 32hrs of pure magic and astounishment, by guru Deke McSomething.

If you want to learn all about the finesses of PS it's an absolute must.

edit- I do NOT have any participation in, nor benefits from total training as a company Wink

I've done an expanded version and JMH said he'd get it into our Lovely PSC Tut pages soon. Hopefully it will end up JUST ABOVE MyPalAl's dandy TUT on making snow! That would be COZY!!! Smile
