Hey Patre, since you opened this vote complaining thread, I might as well vent a little.

One thing I don't get is the huge gap in votes sometimes. I sort of posted a thread about this with the Dolls contest where Bluesbro was 20 votes ahead of YerpalAL seemingly identical post.

I'm not usually a complainer Rolling Eyes
And I'm happy with my share of votes but...

examples:

Arrow Entry #1: http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/78076/display.html

Contest: http://photoshopcontest.com/photoshop-contest/1375/winning-horse.html?l=&o=votes

vote gap: 19 Exclamation

Arrow Entry #2: http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/77671/display.html

Contest: http://photoshopcontest.com/photoshop-contest/1368/snow-dog.html?l=&o=votes

vote gap: 19 Exclamation

Cynns was awesome, but what was the major difference to have 19 less votes?

So my point is, there where 19 people who didn't like these 2 posts? The winning posts were great and deserved to win.... But to be almost 20 votes ahead of these 2 posts bothered me just a little.

And since I'm complaining... what about this one: http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/76770/display.html

28 votes behind the the winner?!?! (I know, scionshades post was great Smile ) But I didn't think mine was THAT bad for almost 30 people not to like it. Confused

I know no one really knows the answers and that I should just STFU and chop, have a nice summer and all that.... but I know SOME of you have felt the same way about some of your posts. Wink

I won a contest a few weeks ago.
I fretted over that pic a bit.
I kept checking it in advantage and looking for any flaws
I could find.
I had 49 views on it before the contest even opened.
Very Happy

ha ha rob, that's nothing, have you ever come second with 70 votes, and lost by 38 votes??? now that sucks big time.

http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/65740/display.html

shouldn't this thread be in the anon voting forum ???

I posted this thread as a new topic because I wasn't really legislating for anonymous or non-anonymous posting, Just hoping to create a little discussion around the view/'votes ratio. Smile I guess it has done that and more... Smile

Robo..
It would be interesting to compare the views/votes ratio for the pictures you have cited.
For the leading entry, subract a reasonable number of votes to account for author editing/viewing, guest viewing and return viewing by other PSC''ers. Then calculate the percentage of votes received a by view/vote ratio. If one of the lower rated pics actually received more votes percentage wise, then a legitimate question, in my view, comes into play. Did the fact that the lower rated entry had less views contribute to the other fact- that it also received less votes?

Thanks Splodge, I didn't know that the views continued to be counted after the contest was over. That means that the only accurate way to tally the vote/view ratio is immediately after the contest has ended. Although the stats I took for yesterdays contest reflected an imbalanced view/voter ratio for individual posts that probably will not change significantly before the contest ends.

Roba: i myself usually cast between 15 and 24 votes. I can imagine though that there are people who only cast 1 vote per contest, namely for the best chop (in their opinion). Just a theory which i didn't check.

any single-voters out there?

Strange Patre that you tried and that it worked. I try both refreshing or going back and forward and it doesn't change the count.

THE COUNTER HAS A DELAY ON IT, check someones standing, go vote for them, then check again, your vote wont register strieght away, the counter works the same.
I CANT BELIEVE I'VE BEEN DRAWN INTO THIS SILLY FORUM Evil or Very Mad

The counter is totally useless then! All this time I thought about 10% of people that viewed my post left a vote for me, that means it is really 80% because I keep going back to my post every minute...
