You guys are magic...
Rein, you are absolutely right about my choice of preference options. I did check the "color channels in color" box. And as you pointed out, the picture then shows in only the blue channel, if you have deactivated the red and green channels.
Sage, your idea is exciting because it creates a flexibility for hue and saturation of the blue color that expands the possibilities of the color range when adjusting the image for the best color to match the theme etc.
Aliased, your idea extracts the pure blue channel and saves it for the web. Amazing, that simply filling the two other channels with black creates that event.
I must say that all of you guys are brilliant, and I got a lot more valuable information about how to use the channels for color effects than I ever imagined when I started this thread!!
Thanks so much for your time, energy and terrific ideas.

Well, my Hudson (near Montreal) Brother. . . I suspect that Patre isn't gonna like any of this. I think he wanted a PUSH ONE BUTTON AND THERE YA GO solution.

BUT, as with many things in life, the final solution isn't as clean and simple as we mere mortals would wish it to be. We must accept what we are given and take what we receive, knowing that it is less than we hoped for. A brutal and hard lesson, but one that a youngster like Patre must eventually face if he is to grow up and join the ranks of (CANADIAN) men who so courageously plot a course through the travails of human existance.

Okay.... I gotta go make some oatmeal for breakfast now. See you later all! Very Happy

Rein..
Just saw your last color channel work thread after I had written my response to all of the previous comments. Your idea also offers almost maximum flexibility with regard to changing the color (shades of blue, for example) to match a theme or complement another element in a picture. Wonderful work..Thanks for all of your time and the investigative work you did to clarify what it was, I was actually doing. I have learned "mucho" from your help and all of the ideas presented by Splodge, Sage, qqq and Aliased.
To be honest, I had a lot of fun watching everybody work through all of the issues involved in finding a solution. Also enjoyed trying the solutions as they were offered to see whether the idea/s worked to get the effect I was looking for. Smile
Thanks again...
