If its a problem with bandwidth then making a sig less in file size would be a more reasonable approach. I have an animated sig which is larger than the size you suggest yet the file size is way acceptable, so I guess mine would be OK.

HAHAHA! Snap!

Meaty, it's not just bandwidth. It's the intrusion the signature makes into the flow of a thread. I've been to boards where I have to hit the page-down key to get from one post to the next. I'm not saying this board is that bad, but it justifies limiting pixel width and height.

Meaty, its not a problem of bandwidth for me. My recommendation would be to restrict size in width and height.

Using the least amount of bandwidth you can only seems to make sense no matter whether you're on dial up or broadband.

Mine's small enough Very Happy Smile And it's only 5.2 kb. Cool Wink

Idea Hey, while we're at it, can we limit the number of emoticons used in a post? Question Question Question I find mass quantities of them much more annoying than most sigs. Rolling Eyes

I actaully like your sig BroChris...its not huge and flashy and distracting.

and Im with you on the excessive use of emoticons but that, too, might be a bit restraining for some. Start your own thread and see Smile

I love you...Spooky.
I voted for limited size ..I like the specs Show mentioned and would vote
for a filesize of around no more than 80kb....
No way a gif that small can't be compressed to 80.

At first, I thought that there shouldn't be an actual limit, but if there was a sig that was obviously excessively large, that a mod could alert the user to make it smaller, but after seeing them get progressively larger and larger for the past couple of months, I have decided that, yes, a limit should be put in place. Some of the stuff i've seen is rediculous, and annoying as well.

I've always appreciated the size limits on our personal icons.
When on other forums with those 120X120 avatars....man,
that just gives me a headache.

Now that is more like it, if it was a set size and set file size, that would be more reasonable. Either that or just dis-allow sigs altogether. I dont think scolling down a little bit is more disruptive than waiting for a page to open because people have sigs larger than 20000bytes.( ie 56k users, yes there are still some out there (
