It's refreshing to see a "help me do this" message where the person is ACTUALLY TRYING to do it on their own.
See, HotsAuZe, we get lots of people coming in here asking us to do stuff for them. It's nice that you're making the attempt on your own and asking for tips on how to make it better.
I'd definitely head bsholic's advice on the color correction of the head layer. Heck even try turning off the blue and green channels and see what that looks like first.
