Please if this has been requested before, just ignore me. I don't know. lol

But.. I'm thinking .. instead of just giving us 25 votes to use.. why not go to the rating system of 1 thru 10 for EACH picture.

I think this way, no one gets "left behind" because 'oops I ran out of votes'.. each and every picture would get rated.

What do ya think?

NO!!.......Too much like other sites

Personally I don't think there are 25 posts daily that deserve votes......maybe change your voting criteria Wink

no offense Susan... but I hate the 1 - 10 system....

I seem to get a lot of 1 or 2's and still end up in the top 5 for votes. people who don't like you will down vote your art, and others who dont have a clue how much work goes into a chop also seem to vote lower....
case in point WINNER: with a 2.0 rating http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/106540/bonding.html

3rd place with a 1.0 rating
http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/107602/midnight-snack-gif.html

I'm sure there are other people with the same problem.

I think 25 votes is just fine... if you're worried about leaving people behind. Don't vote till the last day of the contest. and only vote for the 25 BEST images. you can always comment on the others. theres another site that does the 1 -10 vote and it sucks.

that's hardly a reason not to consider it Rolling Eyes

the voting system is so tricky because we have to cater for all sorts of voters, from lazy/busy people who can only check out a few images (from the thumbnails) to those that look at every image at full size. how can you force people to view all the images?

The rating system would only work if you rate every single post......which doesn't work for open contests. With posts being accepted up until the closing of the contest, someone could post some crap at the end, get one 10 rating from some goofballs for a crappy post, and win because of their average being higher than a post with several 9s, 10s and 8s..........it only works at the other site because all entries are posted before the contests open.

Then you also have the same problem that that other site had as well, which is people rating low on all posts except their own.....causing those other sites to have to throw in factors causing some peoples ratings to hold more value.

...and back to the topic of using all your votes.....this poll shows that quite a few people don't have that problem

I REALLY HATE the 1-10 system...I cannot emphasise Enough how much...

the work it puts on the Moderators is overwhelming I know this from another site that has this system. You would have to also implement a Karma system to compensate for the UNDERVOTING to boost individuals entries and the mods have higher voting power and would have to be around more and vote and monitor...
and then you have the alias issue for vote jamming...it could get ugly REAL fast...IMO

maybe more votes per contest would be a better solution I think clicking entry to entry without the middle option page would help speed the process along in the voting you can always click on the blue entry number to get back to all entries....

I wish we'd go back to the 15 vote per persons..25 is too much...
those using 25 on a regular basis, and there are quite a few...
well....a lot of them aint using them cause they actually liked 25 pics.
