Needs to be a "I comment when I can identify something". After all I'm not that good so it's rare for me to see something that I can help with.

Otherwise it's "I comment if/when I can" or "I comment to be a smart ass" (although I guess that's the "breaking balls" option).

I try to comment just because I enjoy reading people's comments to me, so why not? It's more fun when someone says somethig whether it's constructive, silly, or whatever.

"..." is kinda boring. Smile

So hard to choose. It should be a 1st-2nd-3rd choice question.

1. I tend to only comment on people who are really good.

2. I comment as a strategic move to make people lose votes.

3. I like to break balls.

I would like to have the opposite of choice #6 - Everyone should express their opinions. Hurting people's feelings makes them grow up.

If I open an image and have an immediate reaction to it in my mind, then I post a comment (maybe something like "creepy" or "wow", know what I mean?)

If I open something up and see someone has really gone above and beyond, but it can't be seen on the smaller version, I'll def comment, so people look at the big version to see what I saw.

If I open something and like it, and want to vote, I might not comment because I am short on time or didn't have an immediate strong reaction, but still think it is vote worthy.

Hmmmm... That's a wordy answer, but I think you get the meaning.... Why don't you have an "I comment if I have time and inclination with no specific rhyme or reason" choice? That's me. LOL!

I comment all the time.. if you get a "..." that just means I have nothing to add. Either funny or otherwise. I only critique if I feel I can help. Sometimes I worry about critiquing though, cause I don't want people to think that I'm just coming down on them, when everyone else didn't notice that.
It may come across as a bit brash, or like theres some other motive BUT..
Normally I will only critique if and when I think I can push something a bit further because of an Idea I think is cool, and I know that someone can handle it. Or if they ask, hey whats wrong with this?

Now on top of this, I've recently been actually showing the person in question my example side by side with theirs through PM or comment. So they can see where I'm coming from and what I am trying to show them. So far, so good. I just want to help. I by no means know it all, and I too welcome help. If it wasn't for people like Stephen, vokaris and Rey helping me well... I digress.
Remember if you don't want my help, by all means, tell me to STFU. There are people I am afraid to help, because of fragile egos. There are also people I will refuse to help now because of the complete lack of either wanting help, or their downright refusal to edit. So why even bother?
OK I'm going to stop now cause I'm getting into a rant and falling off topic while rambling.

Final summation.
I am not PC and I will never be! If you want honest advice that doesn't come with a price tag. Want a willing person to help you? I am always available.
