Heinlein -> Grab-a-guru: Page Turn Transition Effect (Mon Mar 24, 2008 1:49 pm)
Quote message
Hi,

I guess this is where I might get some sound advice.

Well anyway,

I have a project where I need to present our product catalog as a type of slide show that has an automatic page turning effect. Something like what you see in ebooks but not that elaborate.

I have already created the show in Photoshop by going to automate - PDF Presentation, but it doesn't have a page turn transition effect.

Is there a plug in or another way I can create this effect?

Thanks in advance for your help,

it's pre scripted in in flash 8, put you'll have to hunt for a tut' i dont have one,
i have an extreemly large tut about 1gb on building a page flip flash photo album, if you got time to learn it i could host it somewhere for you to download? but it would have to be before i get to drunk.

ok so i lied Smile
but this is just a visual effect, not a tranitional one,

Page Curl in CS2
Photoshop CS2 has a brand new feature in the "Edit" menu called "Warp", which allows you to distort your images by hand. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to create the ever-so-popular page curl effect using this brilliant new feature in Photoshop CS2.

I did this flip album in a couple of minutes using free tools and zero knowledge of Flash.

http://vokaris.110mb.com/flip/

software used:
- an image folder
- picasa (export to HTML page)
- a handy dandy picasa plugin from http://www.paulvanroekel.nl/picasa/flashpageflip/ (the other plugins look cool too)
- based on the free version of the FlashPageFlip flash engine from www.flashpageflip.com

The free version has it's limitations, one of the downsides is that it doesn't preload the images for the flipping pages and they look blank, but running it once all the way to the end makes it look better the second time around.

If you have a budget for a commercial project, you can save time and effort with the paid versions (or other similar functionality software)

This one has an 'Auto-Flipping' feature

I found that Ulead gif Animator has a good page curl feature, used the 30 day test period, but its free at some sites Wink
Took me about 5 minutes to create.

Hey Blue,
Can we make this topic "Sticky" so I don't have to go searching for it?

Redrawing Hair vs. Chromatic Masking. Going only as far as the top of her head, here is the best I could achieve using Mask Pro 3, I also did ReyRey's method too. Redrawing Hair sells the illusion better, but takes more time to achieve. Thanks Rey for that great technique .. ! and thanks Mighty beet for the much need thread stickness .. Wink

Good job Tarmac. Stick to 1 pixel lines and put some dark and light strands in there to break up the solid looking chunks of hair.
....and don't soften them so much. Make sure you are using a hard brush.
