Trent Reznor's music does put off some strong energy, it can put you in a trance or something, like nothing can hurt you, "head like a hole" or "down in it" get the blood flowing for sure, I tell you, the band to see live is "Janes Addiction", Perry Farrell's link

Mountain Song

He started Lollapalooza becuase he was so pissed off about the first Gulf War, I remember seeing them (Janes) in Miami, and he was saying that he was going to start the biggest peace rally ever, if the war did not stop, and about a month later, "Lolla" was announced, the first tour was the best, however I was bummed to not see the Smashing Pumkins there, they played the following year and I missed that show Sad Anyway, The first version of "Jane Say's" and the live version are sooo Good!
I've seen them many times and I think they are one of the best live acts you can catch, they know how to put on a show!

This CD is a must, early Janes Addiction, with Jane Says

Yes Paul! Heavy Weather was a masterpiece. But Weather Report made few of them.
I love Mr. Gone, Black Market, Night Passage. Also Tale Spinnin'
& I Sing The Body Electric... before Jaco era.

Pretty Hate Machine is maybe my favorite too... very different than other NIN album.
Janes Addiction is great too... especially Nothing's shocking & Ritual De Lo Habitual.

A mexican group I like a lot is Plastilina Mosh. Rock-Funk-Kitch... something around that! Smile

DP, all I can say is Jah Mon, those are great albums, Babylon By Bus is one of my fave reggae albums of all time Cool I saw Peter Tosh just before he got shot, I forgot all about that, until just now, it was funny, he had one of those cordless mic's for his show, this was when that was state of the art, so his last song, he's going on and on, anyway he left the building and was still goin on talkin or singin wasn't sure Laughing until he was out of range, I thought it was funny at the time. Rolling Eyes

Claf, Nothing shocking and Ritual are both great CD's, I took Ritual with me on a surf trip to Mexico for a month, and whenevr I hear any of that stuff, it puts me in a barrel, or in a hammock drinkin a cold Dos XX's, those were good times.

Yeah! NIN & Janes Addiction are music for surfing.
I discovered those 2 bands when I was on few trips to Cape Hatteras for bodyboarding in late 80s... surfing was too hard for me... I'm from deep north... I'm only pretty good on ice & snow! Laughing
Rage Against The Machine is another great band in that kinda mood.

The only thing I know of Rage Against the Machine I've heard in The Matrix and on Saul Williams' self titled album.

Which brings me to talk about an artist I really enjoy listening to at the moment : Saul Williams. He writes poetry, raps and his lyrics are a thousand miles from the current hip hop's mysoginistic and capitalistic blinging babbles.

One of my favorite line from him is : "Cancel the Apocalypse".

So, if anyone of you can bear rap music or perhaps even enjoy it, give Saul Williams a try.

I think the best of Rage Against The Machine is their first CD:

Saul Williams! Never heard! I took a look... sounds interesting!

I dont listen a lot of rap, but some are good.
Something like Material's "Intonarumori":

I saw Rage Against the Machine when they first came out, and Bullet in the Head, was something to think about, that shit was heavy duty, Anyway, ReyRey had a good question about all time best song, I don't really think I can answer that, it's like asking who's the most beautiful women ever created, can anyone really say? Rolling Eyes Hmmmmm

Fat Boy (Norman Cook) is quite good, although I'm not a big fan of his latest album but, I am a big fan of ( his previous band w. Paul Heaton) "The Housemartins". Have you heard them? Here's an oldy but a goody.http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4057118034433463792 He certainly changed his sound through the years. The Housemartins also produced another great band (Paul Heaton's) "The Beautiful South" of which I am an even bigger fan of.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxD-DXkvBR0 ......
