I have a question, maybe someone can help me out. I recently had to do a photoshoot and while i was on location someone asked me to take some photos of his vehicles and himself. I've compiled a little over 100 pics for him, i've touched'em up in PS and put them on a cd for him. We used a D70 and a D80 for the shoot. My question is: what would be a good price to charge for this. I will only provide a cd with the pics.

Hmmmm.... were they nice vehicles that alluded to an overabundance of disposable income? Laughing

Are the photos to be used in any promotional way? That would mean extra $$$.

What is your time worth? How much "touch-up" time do you have in it?

In my business, (which is not photography related) my clients have labor rates so I just charge them what they charge. i.e. one charges $90/hr, that's what I charge, but no less than $50/hr.

Time and material.
How much time?
How much material?

My time is worth 40 bucks an hour at my chosen profession. I couldn't see selling myself for less. Get your money at least. If the arrangement is mutually beneficial, Turn the screws next time out.

At least get time and material. Maybe an extra 10% for using your very expensive computer equipment...

This will be a good learning experience for you, next time, let them know your fee's before you start the job, so there is nothing to wonder about when you finish the job, also let him, or your future client know that you can spend as much time as they are willing to pay for to clean up and enhance the pictures you shot, we all know you can spend hours on one shot to make it right, most people have no idea of this, they think they came right out of the camera that way, also before you hit him with the bill, ask yourself if you would do it again for the same price, then double it. Wink Wink Good luck.

This really depends on type of image, time and requirements.

But for basic re-touch, colour match ect work I work either by the hour, or by the image, it depends on the ammount of work and the client.

Per image I charge (depending on work needed and complexity) from 40 - 100 English pounds (pound sign not working sorry Laughing ) thats about $80 - $200 U.S.

For per hour I charge a flat rate that only alters if the requirements are above what I consider basic of 65 English pounds an hour ($130 U.S)

don't know if this helps any, as England is fecking expensive and thus charges for work are higher also.
