Who knows, maybe we will have a cartoon image in the voting queue one day, for us to work with. Somebody would be able to make a good basic image, what?

We had this:
http://photoshopcontest.com/photoshop-contest/2279/crayon-lighthouse.html
It was a fun chop Smile

And regarding ReyRey's chop; I liked it so I voted. And I belive that is the important thing. I don't mind many diffrent expressions used on a source. As long as I can see a reference to the source. In this drawing I did.

Smile

Aya, totally forgot about the lighthouse contest. See, we can do stuff with cartoons.

Three years ago I woulda been pissed to all hell to loose to an image like this, but three years ago I would've been right to. The scope of
"what makes a chop" has changed some in this regard, and the stick in the mud attitude of before no longer fits this square hole.
Source as reference, if not actually in the rules, is by virtue of
it's many occurrances, it's acceptance by so many proficient choppers,
it's having been written in stone by this record breaking,
precedent case.... http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/65879/display.html

has become by historically provable precedences,
a grand fathered in Law.

I don't like these DRAWING chops. (I mean, I think this is a very masterly DRAWN image based on the source image... but)

Seriously, things have changed around here. I do understand that now, in the New PsC Rey's work is 'okay'. But the old school dude in me don't like what he sees. no no no.... Sad

(More alarming to me is that, with the ONE MONTH ADVANTAGE, people with good drawing skills can take 30 days to draw their images. Egads. I'm old - ignore me. I just SO love a 30 minute chop. All these "perfect" entries has bored me to tears. Crying or Very sad

I've got to go cut myself now... bigsmurf

(see retraction further down page)

In all the books I have read about photoshop at least half have used a starting photo to make into a vector or in this case a cartoon. So I believe it is just as relevant.

When I seen this chop I new it was you, you posted a while back in a forum a Flintstone scene you did, so it gave the "author" away for me.

Nice work Rey!!

Just to set the record straight. My image was not done with vectors or illustrator. It was all done with brushes I created in PS. The line work is done with brushes that I made. They are kind of like calligraphy brushes. They get thick and thin with pressure.
The larger areas were done with the airbrush and gradients.

No No No! I'm aware you did it all in Photoshop - I was only saying that the paths/vectors thing is the Illustrator "part" of the Photoshop package.

It's all rather silly, as I'm sounding like the noobs that say Animated Gifs don't fit into PSC. Even though ImageReady (until recently, God rest its soul) came with Photoshop.

Hmmm.... now that I've said that I must go write a retraction.
