From Amherst College: "...at least two, and perhaps six, students have tested positive for Type A influenza, which may be H1N1, commonly known as swine flu. None of the students' cases are considered serious and all are responding well to treatment."
These are NOT yet confirmed, and thankfully, they are all doing well... But it's still right close to home, on my doorstep, even. We live in Belchertown and frequent Amherst regularly. Confused

OY! I'd find that, well, irksome to say the least. Confused Here's hoping it's NOT swine flu, the sick child gets well soon, and that you guys simply get to enjoy a long weekend! Hug

My kid's school is closed due to he flu.

We received information today that a student from Rotella Magnet School felt ill. Upon questioning it was determined that the student had recently visited Mexico. While the symptoms may not be that of the swine flu, the ROTELLA school is being closed this Thursday and Friday as a precaution. During this period custodial staff will sanitize the building and the child’s condition will be monitored. The school nurse has been in contact with the City’s Health Department on this matter.

Adams County, about 20-30 miles south of me, has a suspected case of swine flu being reported.

Quote:
As of Thursday evening, there were five cases of suspected swine flu in Wisconsin, according to the state's Department of Health Services. Two were in Milwaukee County while Adams, Ozaukee and Sheboygan counties each had one possible case. The Adams County person who was tested works in Wisconsin Rapids. The state laboratory had received 228 samples for testing; 182 were negative and 41 are pending.
- Wausau Daily Herald

I live in Wisconsin Rapids. It's a small town of about 19,000 people. Confused

But 182 negative so far. I'm literally not holding my breath.

I wish there would be more reports on "confirmed negative" tests. I like those numbers. Wink

Still waiting to hear results of the Amherst College students' testing. Rolling Eyes sigh.

Caffy, follow this link every few hours. If anything changes in the Amherst College situation, it'll most likely pop up here.

Personally, my family and I are surrounded by clusters of known cases. Marty (aka Martrex) is also at extreme risk as is anyone else in Southern California at this time.

Hope your doing well Marty.
