Diana Nyad will be departing Havana Cuba tonight, to attempt a world record 100+ mile swim to the Florida Keys, 2 of my best friends will be running her main support boat, she will do this without a shark cage, and for 61 years old, she is probably in the best shape of her life to do this, I wish her luck, this will be a real challenge.

They have some electric field that deters them, also divers will get in the water if they get frisky.

And think she's doing it for citizenship. Since all Cubans who set foot on US land get citizenship. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Diana has been in the water for @ 16 hours so far, you can track her progress, CNN has a GPS tracking system that is with the team.

Also let it be known that Susie Maroney from Cronulla, New South Wales has made this 112 mile swim already, she was in a shark cage and was 22 years old at the time, she also swam from Mexico to Cuba, and from Jamaica to Cuba, along with some other amazing swims to her credit, the fact that Diana is 61 and is not in a shark cage would also be a world record if she makes it.

Pictures are just coming from Cuba, here she is entering the ocean yesterday

You can see my friends David and Steven standing in the center of the boat, that pole sticking out is the electrical field in the water that deters sharks.

They are reporting that her shoulder is starting to hurt, but she said the only thing that will stop her is unconsciousness.

At @ 29 hours into the swim Diana started vomiting and was pulled from the water, "I am not sad. It was absolutely the right call," CNN quoted her as saying.
Confused oh well, she gave it one helluva shot
