Yes, P@u, your English is good!

But if you want a challenging language to learn, try a non-Roman language like Russian, Arabic or Cantonese/Mandarin Chinese...

lol.

Yeah, the Russian alphabet is very structured and words are clearly phonetically spelled, but the grammar - cases and inflections - and actual speech patterns are pretty complex for a westerner!

I gave up on it after a few basic lessons... lol.

All I meant was that the structure was relatively simple and straightforward compared to English (with as many exceptions as not.)
Actually, my english and my accent are wired, but thatīs because our english teacher taught us the "aristochratic" english... My cousin went to London and her expressions (mostly of politeness) (is that even a word?) werenīt the most used, so people looked at her funny....
=P
In my defense, I have to say, we didnīt know it was aristochratic... we found out when she went there a few years ago...
thatīs because our english teacher taught us the "aristochratic" english

Well - at least you were taught British English (albeit and old form) and not American English.

It still amuses me to hear people from Russia, the Middle East and all sorts of other places who speak English with an American accent or use American expressions because they learned the language at a school/university in the USA, or they were taught US methods in their own country.

Well, I must say that TV has influenced my english accent now (because of the invasion of american tv series)... But I still like British English best... you have a lovely accent... it sounds so correct and so elegant to me! but of course, I donīt understand a thing when it is an irish speaking or a scottish... or so. But they sound excellent too!!
