Please remove my entry that "won" (stone balls).. It's been brought to my attention that it's copyrighted material..
and let "Ghosts of Movie Scenes" become the winner.

Did the owner of the pic contact you personally?

Are you sure you didn't mean some other name that starts by "c"?

No, I meant that Caldera posted an entry for a contest (you know the one with them kiddie scissors), which was of similar "nature" to dfwsusan's which was objected to by members (after they discovered of course), which in turn caused the entry to be removed, and then caused Caldera to change name to DKCdesigns or whatever it is now.

Aren't all outside sources from some sort of copyrighted material, spoken or unspoken? How many members here actually take their own pictures to use as sources? I think at some point anyone who chops uses copyrighted material at one time or other...If an owner of a source pic specifically sais not to use it without permission, then I either ask or I don't use it, but I've never had a problem otherwise...if you're not profiting on it, and you give due credit, where's the harm? Kind of the nature of the beast...Just my opinion...

I would imagine most gain permission though, you are correct though in much of what you say.

Well most of us integrate various outside sources to make a new pic, or new idea. What we're talking about here is when you take an existing image/idea and merely implement the source image of that day onto it. (as in overlaying the image)

I just think some people take this stuff wayyy to seriously...in comparison to all the problems in the world today (Wars, poverty, famine),in the eternal scheme of things, is this really that big of a deal? When it's all said and done, who's really gonna care?

I've seen online sources used two or three times in different contest throughout my time here at PSC. I find it hard to believe that people ask for permission from the owner and wait patiently for a response before starting their chop. Unless you're one of the many photographers here that have a large amount of photos on hand.
Just another reason why I like all-source images, prevents a lot of drama!
