Yes. In your senior year of high school, you buy this tacky-looking ring with a fake birthstone, and your school name, graduation year, initials, and some kind of mascot/sport/activity engraved on it. You wear it and feel all cool because the younger classmen don't have them, and it shows that you're about to graduate, be free, and go off to college or get a job.
You give it to your girlfriend to wear so she can go around showing off that she has a steady boyfriend. You break up, have a whole drama about getting the ring back. You get a new girlfriend and let her wear it. And so on...
You graduate from high school, throw the ring in a drawer, and never wear it again. But it's tradition, and at the time is very much the cool thing to do.

Ring #2 looks like something from power rangers... and while you might think that's cool now, it won't be in 10 yrs.

So true. Good luck in your decision, Mason.

Exactly!
"rings are for fags....i wouldn't get one if i were you." Are you married? If you are, then that makes you a fag, right?

Sorry mason. The wife over-ruled there. Maybe I'll put up a photobucket album and then poll for approval.

I didn't get a chance to throw mine in a drawer.. I lost it....
Funny thing though... the sun continued to rise and has for the last 17 years.

.
Sure, both rings are gaudy, cumbersome, uncomfortable and expensive but
ummmm
I know I had something here...
ahhhhh
someone help me out.
I think you should save all the money you have on travelling once you leave highschool.
That's the only advice I have to offer here.
Oh and also make sure to take that monstrosity off your finger when you leave the country.

i personally hate the whole "ring thing". i mean i have a highschool ring that i've never worn, and it looks like the first one... if i had the option i would choose the second, simply based on the fact that it dosn't look all "jockish" and stuff, but if you are into sports then it may be for you... the second, while wierd, has a cleaner, more updated look to it, and wouldn't seem like a big assed pimp ring on your finger... you should see if there are samples of each in a local jewelery store that you could put on, and then choose the rght one for you...
