First i would like to thank EVERYONE that helped contribute with donations! THANK YOU!!!!!! Drinks on me!!... First time ive ever did a walk fer charity thing, was actually really neato!. Nice sunny day, 60-70 degrees, cool breeze, and lot of people. LOTS of volunteers especially motorcyclists who stopped traffic as we go by.
...now the sad part...
We walked for Dave Parcells who was just recently diagnosed with MS as a suprise and show of support. He was in Florida this past week for the Tampa Bay Marathon Swim and did not know about what we going to do. He had participated in the marathon several times before, winning in 2003 and crowned the "King of Tamp Bay." I learned this Monday morning as i came into work that Dave passed away Saturday while doing what he loved to do. While in the race he felt nausious and signaled for help. He was picked up by the escorting boats and told them he didnt feel well. He suffered a heart attack and they were not able to revive him.
This is a shock to everyone knowing him. He was someone who was very determined to get things done, very athletic and MS was not going to get in his way. He was involved with many charities and fundraisers. Here are some links to events he has done as well as this past Saturdays article.
