Thanks candron - that's kind of how I pictured it in my mind. It's been forever since I've actually used a bendy straw, but I think they do kinda float.

Hmmm.... No access to glassware or bendy straws at the moment so I can't get a reference. But I would think the angled-up look on the end would be right since the straw is cut-off straight across. Of course refraction could screw that up as well as the camera angle.

Nah, because it's a tall glass right? and the straw isn't as tall so it kinda floats there. scratch

Laughing It probably should.

Maybe it's just cleverly balanced?! Wink

maybe a few air bubble have gathered and increased it's buoyancy

one thing... I think the straw would appear a little magnified

Something like this perhaps, or is that too much?

Do you think the straw's reflection in the wood surface would be so well-defined? The glass' reflection is a bit blurred; maybe the straw's should be as well.

I'm very glad that some people have gotten something out of this thread. The PMs I've gotten about it have been positive so I've got another round waiting in the wings for tomorrow. Very Happy

I know that I've learned a few new tricks thanks the amazing Reinman's contributions as well as the feedback to bsholic's crack at it. Cool

This post is not meant to imply that this thread should be considered "dead" or even over. If anyone else wants to have a go at this chop then DO IT and I can't wait to see your results. I've still got a couple other tries at it that I'll post if/when I get them done. Very Happy

Confused Sorry this didn't get noticed Jeri. Mea culpa.

First thing I notice is the glass on the left side is a bit too light at the edge and kinda "halo-ed" over the kitten. Make a prop set-up similar to the scene and you'll see that the very edge will still be darkened even with the lighter kitten behind the glass. At least that's how it looked when I held up a glass with an object partially behind it. Cool
