I've been using a free discussion board site (www.runboard.com) for a couple of the classes that I teach for the last couple of years, but I was wondering if any of you guys knew of a good site that might be good as well.

I like Runboard, but managing it can be a bit of a hassle sometimes and I'd like more options with skins/interfaces too. I've also tried Google Groups, but it was even worse to manage (at least it was a year ago).

I used http://www.freeforums.org for a while. It is just phpBB. If you want something completely customizable, I could set up a board for you at pschost.

I use Fourmer for my site and it's easy to setup and manage. A donation of $5.00 keeps the ADs off if you dont like them otherwise its just a banner ad at the top.

I tell you with the utmost confidence that Splodge is half right.
You want, definately want to choose SMF simplemachines forums..but the other half is that you want to choose their
template called "BLOGGY".
You should trust us on this one, and I'd suggest just going to godaddy- spending the seven dollars for a website with the name of your choosing and using their free hosting plan.
So it'll cost ya 7 dollars a year. If given the choice for linux or windows host-choose linux.

I have been signed up with a forum which has been made this way, and I think their system is great. I don't own the site, but so many have owned sites that are made by that free providor. I don't really know if they are paying anything, but the ads are not really that big.
