Personally I am a man with not all that much photoshop prowess. Getting a pic that's high on execution is incredibly unlikely for me so i attempt to just rely on ideas; but is it possible to win that way?
So basically I'm asking for you guys to post pics of people's entries from past contests where they were able to win without doing a "well executed" photo and relied on the other aspects of the contests such as just pure humor or idea so people like me can feel like they have a fighting chance

Tea........
Like half the contest win for other reasons aside from execution.
Execution is well respected, but don't think you can't do well while working on your skills.
I've seen hundreds of the most horribly executed chops win because they were hilarious, or clever, or the favorite of all..outside the box.
Just have fun, and don't worry.
BTW. You do good quality chops.

Well, there are different degrees of competency. But the bottom line is, humor can carry you quite a way, but you still have to chop convincingly to win, period.
That's your bad news.
Your GOOD news is you have arrived at the place to learn that skill. There are some good tutorials here and a raft of people to question about technique, so if you don't improve here you have no one to blame but your self.
So . . . . . chop!
*edit*
Just looked at your portfolio and should have done that before I responded. There's nothing wrong with your skills, you just haven't quite connected yet. You humor is whacky, just keep chopping and it will happen. You've had 2 second places, keep chopping.

But what are your favorite chops that "anyone could do" but are amazing anyways?

I've got the idea that when it's fruit or vegetables as a source, just make a face in it, and you'll score big time

I was discussing this these days... I got a 1st and a 2nd with 5 minutes chops that didn't required skills at all (except for cutting and pasting)...
1st
2nd

i dont think time counts, you have fast choppers and slower choppers, there was a forum onces, with the almost same question? what makes a good entrie, lot of answers came out, skills, or humor, or art or idea or a mix. I have also not many knowhowe of pscs3, but when i have an idea i go for it, in the beginning a year ago, i wanted to win, now i am glad i can join a contest, but i have to admit that my last entrie with the polarbears i expected more in votes, and there was a time a got a second place and i expected nothing, so do your thing, enjoy and relax.
tea man you make good stuff so as there are many here.
btw the tools i use are, ofcourse selection tools, liquify, eraser, burn tool, blur, clone stamp ( not much ), some photofilters and curves, thats it. i posted 122 entries, got 4 wins 5 sec and 5 3th, and i am very happy about that result,
last note, humor or drama are good subjects to work around
