Music is all genres. If you listen to only one genre, you're not getting the whole picture. Without the whole picture, you're not listening to music. You're only listening to part of it. Why settle for less?
There are great recordings in all genres. All genres have their own bell curve -- a few are terrible, most are mediocre, a few are excellent. Find the excellent ones in all genres, and you'l be very enriched.
Music comes from everywhere. Thanks to the Internet, you can get music from the Middle East, Europe, South America, North America, Asia, Eurasia, the Pacific and the Atlantic. If you listen to only one country's music, you're not really listening to music. Again, why settle for less? You are missing some really great stuff!
There is a difference between music and lyrics. If you listen to music only for the lyrics, you're missing the point. You can read poetry for lyrics. Music is sound! You don't really need to know numerous languages to appreciate all of the world's music. You don't need lyrics at all. They are only a bonus.
