Hi there,
I work for a small travel company and am designing their website. I don't have a background in web design but took a course in Dreamweaver. I want to know though is it best to use Fireworks or Photoshop to work with the images?

Cheers,
Brian

I'd go with Photoshop. Just a preference as well. Mr. Green

it's kinda odd to get in a place called PHOTOSHOPcontest and ask if we'd rather use Fireworks or Photoshop... anyway, I just love the Macromedia line (Flah, DW, Freehand, and so on) but for graphic purposes, either photo editing, image manipulation or layout design, I stay with Photoshop... a matter of being used to it though... if you're not used to Photoshop neither Fireworks, you'd rather choose Fireworks, once it has a direct integration with the other Macromedia tools... hope now that Macromedia and Adobe merged they kinda integrate PS to DW and Flash, in the future versions... anyway, my 2 cents...

I don't use it any more, but CorelDRAW has a fairly powerful bitmap editor in CorelPhotoPAINT. It does a lot of stuff that PS does, and a few funky tricks it doesn't.

As I said, I'm a total PS dude now - but if you can get your hands on Corel PHOTOPaint you'll be able to do some pretty knarly things!

And - of course - practice practice practice no matter what app you choose! Very Happy

I used to use photoshop for the overall layout but then use fireworks to slice it up and export the slices.

I guess you can do that in Imageready.. but I never bothered to learn how.

Thanks everyone for your replies - I guess with Adobe buying Macromedia there will be a one stop shop that will encompasses the best of both - I think I've simply got used to using Fireworks as it came with Dreamweaver and so wanted some idea as to how web friendly Photoshop was - I had an idea that it would be great for printed materials but not the web...will have to chop and change.
