"There is something curious in the properties of the number 9. Any number multiplied by 9 produces a sum of figures which, added together, continually makes 9.
For example, all the first multiples of 9, as 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81 sum up 9 each. Each of them multiplied by any number whatever produces a similar result; as 8 times 81 are 648, these added together make 18, 1 and 8 are 9. Multiply 648 by itself, the product is 419,904 - the sum of these digits is 27, 2 and 7 are 9. The rule is invariable."
The number nine rocks.

In Michigan, it is illegal to chain an alligator to a fire hydrant.
An alligator clip, on the other hand, is perfectly legal.

.
In parts of Canada it's perfectly legal to kill a hobo as long as they are in season and the killing is done with bare hands.

This reminds me of the trick from grade school to learn the multiples of 9 (up to 9x10):
Hold your hands out so you're looking at your 10 fingers. Whatever number you're multiplying by 9, count to that number on your fingers (starting at left), and then fold that finger down. Now look at the number of fingers you have showing on either side of the folded-down finger.
For instance, to get 9x4: fold down your 4th finger from left. You end up with 3 fingers up on one side of it and 6 on the other = 36. 9x6? Fold down the 6th finger and you're left with 5 fingers on the left and 4 on the right = 54. And so on.

Ok, HK-- here's an easier one-- and it works for any subject, not just math:
Hold up one hand. Fold down the 1st and 2nd fingers. Are you with me? Good. Ok, now fold down the 4th & 5th fingers.
This will make people stop asking questions.
