.

This happens to me more often than I'd like and I'm curious if it's familiar to any of you...

You're inspired with a great idea for a daily image.
You work out the details in your head. It's going to be awesome!
You're ready to begin.
Suddenly the thought enters your mind..."that idea is so obvious. There's no
chance I'll be the only one to think of it. I bet 5 people will submit the same
thing."
Your enthusiasm quickly fades and you decide to scrap your plans.

Inevitabley on the day of the contest you realize your idea was not, in fact, taken
and you feel disappointed.

Logically, you drown these feelings in 2 cases of beer and a visit to the local dominatrix
to confirm your unworthiness.

anyone?

That's one of the nuttiest things I've ever heard.

There are a million ways to do something. You're either inspired to create it or choose not to do it, IMHO.

Personally, I get a kick out of it when someone else has a similar idea...UNLESS theirs is better and then I get bummed and down a pint of vodka. Wink

Yes but you got to realize badcop" those thoughts are just the flaming darts of doubt from the wicked one! Twisted Evil Take those thoughts into captivity and bind them Razz then tell the devil where he is going! Wink then you will have your confidence back to chop and dominate the competition!

Happens to me everytime I don't submit an entry, except my local dominatrix won't see me unless I'm sober. Sad

Hmmm... just by the topic name, I had a sneaking suspicion you were behind it, badcop...

I can totally relate. In fact, all 3 of my contest wins were entries I almost never posted because I was worried other people would do the same thing (& do it better).

Man, with the way you chop, you should complete and submit all your ideas. You do such great work, it would be a joy to see more of it!

As for the phenomenon you describe, it has happened to me also. I have avoided ideas 'cause I thought they would be common, and then nobody else has them. It could just be my crazy brain, though. Razz

If I tackle an idea that seems like it's going to be common, I just try to make sure it's better than anything anyone else submits.

It never is, but I try. >_>;

Thank you all for the empathy, humour, and religious rock, but I believe the first part of Goat's
comment really hit the nail on the head.
