This is a guitar vector ive been working on for a while.

Great job!! Experiment with gradients. You can recreate some very realistic lighting with gradients. For instance, the neck of the guitar. Notice on the original image how the color is lighter where the light is hitting near the base of the neck. Within the shape of the neck, drag a gradient that goes from light brown to dark brown. Actually sample the colors from the original image. I have done some vector art in the past that you would swear was a photo. It just takes practice. You can also get some very nice metallic effects with gradients. Experiment and have fun! Good luck.

Yes....if you look at the neck of the guitar...you are missing the notes (dots) and lines....where the person puts their fingers.

one thing that might help is to make the pick guard a light gray color, like staywild said, sample some of the colors from the source. match the guard to the same tone from the photo and I guarantee that that alone will make it look better, instead of pure white.

Looking good. Keep at it. You can really round off those edges with the right gradients.

Throw a small drop shadow under it to pop it off of the background.

what ya need to do now is, 1: make the screws more metallic instead of little gray blobs, and 2: do some grain and shadow work on the neck. Those are the things I would do next. looks great!
