the daily contest starts at 7 am CST it is free to enter, just look Daily Photoshop Contest there on the home screen and click on the picture shown. each contest runs for 3 days and the only prize is the adoration of your fellow Photoshoppers....
now there are tournaments every so often with actual prizes for the top 4. but those are 1 or 2 times a year. as for the fillipinos, I dont know.
but since ive answered your question...

why are people from the Philippines not Philipino?

haha ... actually Philippines was discovered by Ferdinand Magellan ( a spanish voyager) after then named it as "Las Islas de Filipinas" so there came the word Filipino.
