After eight years of childless marriage, the 30-year-old wife and her 36-year-old husband decided it was time to find out why they couldn't get pregnant.

They visited a fertility clinic and the doctors ran some tests which indicated they shouldn't have any trouble conceiving a child.

A spokesman for the clinic said: "When we asked them how often they had had sex, they looked blank, and said: "What do you mean?"

"We are not talking retarded people here, but a couple who were brought up in a religious environment who were simply unaware, after eight years of marriage, of the physical requirements necessary to procreate."

The couple now knows about the birds and the bees, and with some luck they will have a child in about 9 months.

Two Men Fall While Hanging Christmas Lights
Two North Texas Men Paralyzed From Falls
Two North Texas families are at the bedside of loved ones who may never walk again after accidents hanging Christmas lights.

Both Jacob Rodriguez, 50, and Michael Rodriguez, 19 – no relation – were sent to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth after accidents while decorating their houses. Harris Dr. David Smith said that type of accident is one of the leading causes of injury in the country.

“A ladder job is a two-person job always, and I think most people don't appreciate that,” he said. “You need somebody on the bottom of the ladder, watching you and talking to you.”

The accident is still a little hazy for Jacob Rodriguez.

“I don't remember how I fell, if I slipped, if I grabbed a hold of anything,” he said.

His wife, Diana, said he fell from a ladder and bounced his head off his daughter’s car, setting off the car’s alarm, which alerted the family.

“He was sort of wrapped in the lights and he was on his back, and he was bleeding from his head,” she said.

Now Jacob Rodriguez’s legs are paralyzed. Down the hall, Michael Rodriguez suffered the same spinal cord injury after falling off a ladder while fixing lights for his family.

“I just wanted to be the good son. Just get up there, fix a couple of them and I was going to be done with it,” he said.

Doctors said the chances that either man will walk again are very slim, though both men said they are determined to walk.

“I don't care if they say I'm not going to walk, I'm going to walk,” Michael Rodriguez said.
