So I've got myself Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit CR today.
Got to say.. I'm quite happy so far!
I skipped Vista (for many reasons) and I'm planning to use this version until the ultimate is released officially.
One little tiny problem though
PS CS3 Extended is running quite slow on it.
Apparantly a shared network printer can cause this problem and forums are full with this bug. So far this bug was related to Vista-computers but I'm wondering if anyone has experienced problems so far while using Windows 7.
This bug doesn't apply to my PS, because I don't have a shared network printer.
(Just mentioning it, so there's more space for other solutions)
Running PS in Windows XP SP2 or SP3 compatibility-mode didn't solve it either, nore did running it as 'administrator'.
PS performance handling is set to 910 MB Memory and according to the program, this should be ideal.
Some pc-specs:
Athlon 64 3500+
2 GB Memory
Any ideas anyone?
Btw, I'm not going to buy a MAC to solve this issue :p
(this seems the most common reply in every forum regarding graphic software, haha)

I've been testing out 7 for almost a day now. PS CS4 is working fine for me.

Dunno about the release candidate, but I have been using CS3 in the 7 beta since it was released with no problems. Have you used the beta, or only the RC? If you have, what's new in the RC?

Damn you SupaComa, you beat me to it. This seems clearly a RAM issue. With Vista, at least, Vista itself needed at least 2 Gig of RAM just to run as shitty as it did. And Photoshop likes at least a GIG, two being even better. I'll assume that #7 just CAN'T BE AS SHITTY and INEFFICIENT as Vista, but if you only have 2GIG in your machine, a RAM HOG like photoshop is gonna go pretty hungry, and therefore run off your scratch-disk. In other words, instead of using RAM it is gonna read & write to your actual hard drive... which is V E R Y S L O W.
There. I've said it. Now, make it so, #1 !
[oh - and you really SHOULD buy a MAC, eh? ]

Yeah, pretty much what they said. Although 7 is waaaaaaaaay better than Vista, and doesn't use up nearly as much as Vista did, PS is still as memory-hungry as ever. When I went from 2 to 4gb, it was much, much better. RAM is cheap as dirt nowadays, too.

Hmm.. so a ram-issue.
That's what I was afraid of
The problem is that I'm nearly out of physical memory because nearly 1 GB is cached
Ahwell.. time for another machine then.. in a few months.
Thx for the replies!
