Anyone got any ideas on how to make a blonde into a "platinum blonde"?
I've masked out the hair (from the background and the face). I've tried all kinds of adjustment layers. I tried inverts, bright/cont., hue/sat, color overlays, etc. Nothing looks right or real.
I can find tuts on how to do other colors but not a platinum blonde.

Tesore he only wishes it was that easy.
This is a co-worker who ended up agreeing to dye his hair if another co-worker dyed her hair. She gets to pick the color apparently.
So she's going from blonde to chestnut or auburn and she's taking him to either black or platinum blonde (just to be mean I think).
Anyway they asked me to work up a copy shots of what his hair would look like. He said absolutely not to blue, purple, green, pink, red (actual red) and redhead (like a spiky Carrotop that one).
Anyway all the colors are easy except for platinum blonde. Told him he may just have to go with it.

I used the desaturation to get the lighter hair on a layer copy, then magic wand to cut out the face, magic wand copy one part of the hair, then use yellow colour photofilter to get a little blond colour, two different tones, and then used eraser to get everything together. To make sure the face was good again, I put a colour layer of the face on top and made that transparent.

I don't know that dodge tool that Kittie used to get the highlights, but that is what you do next.

I had about 4-5 layers in there... bottom being the original, 2nd had most of the face removed, and everyting lightened a bit, 3rd layer copy of 2nd and changed to vivid layer option, fiddled with saturation and coloring another color layer merged with it and then changed to Lighten layer option. Next layer up is a bit of color to fix areas of the hair and forehead.... on the hairlines of the layers I used a couple different brushes to remove and feather in the hairline... I fixed the reddish tone of the forehead too.

Take the hair from this picture and blend it into your photo
Or google some more reference photos

I just had a lull between ads, thought I'd take a stab at it.

i'd probably see it could be done (as so many things can be) by using the "replace colour" feature off [adjustments] menu.
Using the add and subtract droppers you can usually fine tune stuff quite precisely.

Now there's an idea (that makes me feel stupid for not thinking of it before). Even a pretty close match on the hair styles.
I'll give a go at some of the other suggestions while I'm at it. He's getting the dye job over the lunch hour tomorrow (14 hours from now).

In other words, he lost a bet, right? Was the bet that the female coworker would NOT dye her hair or was it something more interesting? At least his hair is very short so should grow out pretty quickly if he doesn't like the new look. (hehehe... bands of different color on spikey hair if he doesn't keep the roots dyed --he'll look like a hedgehog by Halloween! )
