While I was sharing this via email with my sister in law, thought I'd copy and paste over here for you guys too.

~Enjoy! ** PERFECT FOR ST. PAT'S DAY**

Stew:
3 lbs boneless sirloin cut into 3/4" - 1" cubes
2 tbsp salt
1 tbsp pepper
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup olive oil
3 lbs onions, chopped
2 pints Guinness draught
1 1/2 qts beef stock
1 1/2 lbs carrots cut into 2" pieces (or just use baby carrots)
3/4 lbs parsnips or turnips cut into 2" pieces
3/4 lbs rutabagas cut into 2" pieces
1/2 lb celery
1 1/2 lbs potatos, cut into 1" cubes

****WARNING**** YOU WILL NEED A HUGE POT TO MAKE THIS! HUGE....

1) Season beef with salt and pepper to taste.
2) Heat oil & butter in kettle, add meat and brown on all sides. Remove meat and set aside.
3) Add onions and sautee til soft.
4) Place meat back in the pan, and add Guinness.
5) Add enough beef stock to cover the meat, cover the pan and simmer over low heat for an hour or until meat is tender.
6) Add the vegetables, and cook until veggies are tender and sauce is thick, approximately 20 - 30 more minutes.

With this:

Guinness and Malt Wheaten Bread

Yield: 10 Servings

2 cups coarse whole wheat flour or
1 cup each quick-cooking oatmeal and oat bran
2 cups fine whole wheat flour
1/2 cup superfine sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
8 Tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon malt extract
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
1 1/4 cups Guinness
Preheat oven to 425° F. Grease a 9-inch loaf pan and dust with whole meal flour. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flours, sugar, soda, and salt. Cut in the butter. Stir in the malt, buttermilk, and Guinness and mix well. Pour into prepared pan and sprinkle with 1 to 2 tablespoons coarse whole wheat flour. Bake for 30 minutes, then reduce heat to 400° F and bake 15 to 30 minutes longer. Bread is done when a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Turn off the oven and cool with the door open for 30 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Cool! Now I can make stew for dinner, with a bread for the side and a cake for dessert!

This would keep me from wasting the Guiness that I'd bought for the cake (the cake only took one cup). See I don't drink and was worried that I'd have to make multiple cakes or pour the rest down the drain. Sad
