Yesterday around noon I accepted an offer for a new job and I turned in my notice today on my existing job. You may ask why this has anything to do with PSC and, for that matter, why any of you would care.
Well it's partly
because of what I've learned playing around here at PSC that I got the job at all. I will be doing web development for a log home company. Included in my duties is some preliminary graphic work including photo adjustments, composites, etc. Being able to intelligently talk about adjustment layers, masks, channels, selections, image formats, resolution, color spaces, etc., etc., etc. really helped set me apart I guess.
New slogan time maybe?
"PSC. You can get back more than you put in."
Irony of ironies... I met with my boss a few times today. He decided to rewrite my job description for hiring my replacement. After all I've done the job for 10 years and much of what was in the original description is no longer applicable (like the Novell stuff).
Anyway the new job description is basically exactly what I'll be doing at the new job (minus the graphic work). He's now hiring a full-time web developer.
