Night scene UPDATED
Night scene UPDATED
all source and ps work. i would really love some feed back and crits. those bars were so hard to get light on and cut out. night sky made from scratch. * updated lightened the scene and made the streelamp's emmited light brighter, touched up the railing

I don't think it's that is soooo dark. you are right about the rails and difficulty or getting a thin line on them...however, you can overcome this as I did with this entry http://photoshopcontest.com/tournament/view/286/display.html simply make the...

I like the look of the light. :-) cool.

Looks good, except with this predominant light source you should revert the shadow under the top ledge to a highlight

good 1! a touch of shade beneath the side of the stairs would be good imo.

Ok, I still don't know where the light source is coming from that's lighting up the hedges behind the railing. The light on the wall is not bright enough, and the light in back is facing the other way, and behind the hedge. But I like the theme.

Agree it's a bit too dark.

...much larger - say 4x the finish size. put your lines in and then shrink it down again. it will alias perfectly.

Oops. That was supposed to be a comment.

Street lamp would be putting out more light. The whole wall and stairs next to it should all be lit up, 'cause don't 4get light would reflect off the lightly colored stones. The light in background seems to be puttin out morelight 'cause hill is lit up.

thanks guys for the wonderful crits looks like the majority says its a tad dark so i'll attempt to lighten it per your suggestions look for an up date soon ;)
jasper jasper
i kind of like the dimness - you just need some hints on the "shiny" stuff.
Granulated Granulated
I cant believe you did the bar highlights after you'd darkened the scene !.... the light level given out by the lamp and also the dispersion is massively innacurate. i mean its not some kids 2 watt night-light is it !!!

updated per peoples requests thanx ;)

very nice update!

It's still too dark..have you got the brightness on 100% or something..If I crank mine all the way to 100% the scene reveals itself (to perhaps how youre seeing it) but then the blacks are washed out.

Actually this version looks FANTASTIC on my craptastic LCD now. Nice job on the foreground lamp/lighting. Very realistic to my eyeballs. Consider my vote for this version. ;-)

huh im not sure andy... at home i had my monitor calibrated via eye1 match (colorimeter) it looks fine to me here and the way i wanted it.... how ever at work on the macs it looks darker to me so i'm not sure what to say...
