Mike.b: the shadows are caused by the fire, which is primarily in the center. Therefore, the shadows ray out from there.

its not actually the windows shadow though is it, it is the viewable interior that indeed does go left to right, and opposite on the other side like Doug has done it here. it actually adds a great deal to the believability of the image, good job

Yes, if the sun were centered behind the wall and below screen level, all the shadows would point to it (like sun rays behind a clound in a misty sky). Actually, these shadows problably should be more random and blurry in this multipoint illumination.
